Meet your New council members

Harrington Ward who replaced the retiring Charlie Jones & Mike Amos who replaced Billy Paul Baker

My name is Harrington (Hap) Ward  I am the new Councilman  for Choctaw Nation District #1 Tribal Council Person. I was born in McCurtain County and have lived here all my life. I retired from Piggly Wiggly after 32 years, and was Manager for the last 8, supervising 31 employees. After a brief retirement, I went to work for the Choctaw Nation at the Choctaw Village Shopping Center in Idabel and have been employed there for the past 12 years.

I will work hard to bring more jobs to McCurtain County in order to ensure that our children and grandchildren donıt have to leave home to find a decent job. I will encourage and help young and old alike to take advantage of the many programs in place at the Choctaw Nation that will assist them in furthering their education. I will make the people aware of the various housing programs available to them, and keep them informed as new programs and services become available. I have enjoyed working closely with Chief Greg Pyle, especially being involved in bringing the shopping center from a state of disrepair up to itıs present landmark status in Idabel.

I am extremely proud to have had the support of Chief Greg Pyle in my campaign. We think along the same lines when it comes to improving the lives of the Choctaw people. We share the same concerns, and the same desire to make a difference.

I want to be a part of Chief Pyleıs team, and I need your vote on July 12th.

Harrington (Hap) Ward

My name is Mike Amos and I am very excited about the opportunity to continue serving as Choctaw Tribal Council Person for District #2, North McCurtain County.

During the past four months, I have been privileged to explain services that are available to many Choctaws who live in this district. Many times, individuals and families did not know that they were eligible for assistance through the tribal programs that already exist.
Working with the Chief and other Council Persons is a wonderful experience - they all share a genuine concern for tribal people . Not only does the Choctaw Nation have services available to improve the daily lives of the citizens, there are programs to educate and train so that people can plan for jobs and careers anywhere in the world.

I was very proud to accept the role of tribal representative on the Council for this district, and I hope that the choice tribal voters make on July 12th will allow me to continue to serve.
It is important to me that I get to know all of the Choctaws who live in District #2. I am visiting as many as possible at their individual homes, discussing priorities, concerns and problems. With Godıs guidance, I want to truly be a servant of the tribal people and assist in providing for their needs.

Please remember to vote on July 12th in the Choctaw election. I would appreciate your support and your vote.

My name on the ballot will appear Michael Allen Amos, but my friends just call me Mike.
Sincerely,

Mike Amos
