 MAKE SURE TO VISIT TRIBAL MEMBERSHIP AT THE next GATHERING AND CHANGE TO A DISTRICT IF YOU ARE ONLY ABSENTEE

Do you Know you can register in a District and Vote for Council Members? The Council is a very important part of Tribal Government

  • Are you a Tribal Members who live outside of the 10 1/2 Counties that make up the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma? If so at present you may only be voting in the elections for Chief.. 

  • Do you know that you can register in a county? If your voter registration card reads "Absentee" or  District #78 then you are not registered to a district. 

We would like to take this space to let all ABSENTEE Tribal Members know that you can register in one of the 12 Council Districts within the Choctaw Nation (see map below). Although you are not currently living in (or have never lived in) Oklahoma you can still register in a district. As a registered member in a district you will not only be able to vote in the Chief elections but in the Council elections as well. 

Why is this important to you? 

Your Council person is your link to the Choctaw Nation. 

How do I pick a county to register? Below are a few ways:

  •  Chose the District where you lived while in Oklahoma. 

  •  Chose the district that you currently have friends or family in ( in this way you can have a voice (via   election of council person) that will assist your family.

  •  Meet the Council Members when they are out here in CA for the annual Gathering, talk with them and then register in the district that has a council person that you like.

  •  Talk with friends or family who are currently register and ask what district they are in and why.

Please take the time to contact Tribal Membership and register to vote  in your favorite district. 
We have some great Council members who would like your support.
 The council is the governing body that run the Choctaw Nation.
We old here away from the Choctaw Nation are always talking about wanting representation so that our view can be hear, we HERE is your chance to get your voice heard.
