Rio Bravo resort was a resort for the people of Bakersfield, one that the whole city felt a part of. There were many events and weddings that have been held at Rio Bravo as well as the long time residents who bought their homes out near the resort to be a part of the Country Club. Now when you turn to drive up the entrance to the resort lobby, the first thing you see is a sign posted "NO TRESPASSING" Although as you read here, the new owners claim that they are not trying to drive away the non Korean visitors, Okla Chahta like many other organizations who have for years rented the resort, were told
(1) The rates have gone up to $105.00 per room - no special rates for renting the entire resort
(2) That the biggest majority of the rooms are no long 1 king or 2 queen but have been converted to 4 sets of bunk beds.
(3) That they closed the restaurant, and all the resort facilities
(4) They were really only interested in Korean Church groups
We immediately went to another hotel, one of Bakersfield Best and negotiated new contracts
Below are the articles from the Bakersfield Californian (local newspaper).
