The need in the western regional areas outside the Choctaw Nation has never been greater to reach out to the future

"Coal Bearer" of our tribe

Although we as adults strive to know more about our traditions and culture, our youth are in need of learning about the proud people that they descend from. They need to get involved in learning their tribal ways to see there is an alternative to joining gangs, to learn the traditional uses of tobacco, to get involved in learning the tribal dances, the young men to start a Young Warriors Society, the young ladies to participate in the Princess contests which are designed to assist the girls to learn the tribal ways. The gatherings offer a place for our youth to meet and get to know positive role models to help develop the skills to be productive members of our society. They learn the Indian way of respect of their Elders, themselves and their peers. The gatherings offer a Family environment to bring the family together to teach the youth and their parents to enable the parents to continue the teaching at home.

Okla Chahta Clan of CA has been reaching out for 9 years to the Choctaw people and has been successful in providing a means for Choctaw people to gather and learn tribal ways touching lives positively forever.

We can only do this in a partnership with people like you; people who want to make a difference in their community and in the lives of Choctaw people.
