Stick Ball is a Choctaw Tradition game played by our ancestors.  The game is played hard and the rules, well lets just say you should really get your strength up before you play.  As you can see in the picture below, the guys are using the stick ball sticks to reach for the ball.  The stick ball sticks are used rather than your hands, with exceptions.  This game is like the modern day Le Cross you see played at some prestigious college's,  however with our stick ball game dating way back, were sure our game was first.  We have a stick ball game played by the guys of the dance troupes when they can to show you the traditions of this ancestry game.  When you see the stick ball sticks crossed over each other as in the 2nd picture below, the meaning is "may our paths cross again and again".

The above picture is from our 11th Annual Gathering, in Bakersfield, CA.
This is a stick ball game demonstration show for the crowd,
played by the Choctaw Nation Dance Troupe guys.
Stick Ball is a ROUGH game and we recommend you learn all about it before trying it yourself.
