Why Run for Princess
Why does Okla Chahta Clan have a Princess?
We started the Princess contest in an effort to get the young ladies interested in learning who they are, what their culture and traditions are and to get them to interact with the Elders of their own family and those of the Tribe. We hope that they will learn more about their culture and history.
This is in no way a Beauty contest.
It makes no difference if the young lady is beautiful or average - large or small.
It is all about how much effort they put into learning about their Choctaw traditions. The rules are simple the first and most important is to obtain a traditional dress. They can buy it, make it or have someone make it for them which is a very traditional way in itself. The young ladies must be of Choctaw Decent - either having a CDIB or it is obtainable. She should be single with no children and under the age of 25 yrs.
NOW IS THE TIME TO START PREPARING FOR THE 2008 PRINCESS CONTEST It takes time to get your dress and learn about your traditions.
